Charlie Company troopers arriving in South Viet Nam as the USS General John Pope enters Vung Tau Harbor.  Late January, 1967. Joel, who is this soldier?

Joel couldn't resist displaying and photographing his extremely well organized footlocker back at Fort Riley during Basic Training.  I wonder if Joel preferred the "spit n polish" Army life to the muddy waters of the Mekong Delta.......Naw!

One of Joel good buddies, who appears to be just simply delighted to settle in at Camp Bearcat. February 1967.

One of Joel's communication guys hangin' out near  Company Headquarters' bunkers.

Dong Tam's trash pit.  It was an amazing sight to us to see the local Vietnamese villagers scrounging through our slop thrown out from the mess hall.  We could not believe how hungry these people were for our scraps...

Charlie Company's Mortars Platoon setting up and preparing to provide support to the Rifle Platoons searching for Viet Cong.

USO entertainment for the Mobile Riverine Force at Dong Tam.

These Buddhist Priests appear praying that Joel and his communication crew will not have them carry radio equipment as Charlie Company's patrol continues searching for Viet Cong for the next 3 days.

Scenes from Joel's R & R trips to Bankok and Taipei - is it possible that these photos were taken from hotel room windows and that Joel never really saw much of these fine cities.......hmmmm? Wonder what was he doing?
